Standing a little down river from the French Quarter you will find a number of lively districts popular with local artists, while the northerly Treme district contains a significant black community and an impressive pedigree in the blues. Also worth noting, the Garden district lies on the southern side of the French Quarter and is home to many magnificent buildings and the Loyola and Tulane universities, while Uptown New Orleans offers an excellent range of trendy eateries and clubs.
