Visiting New Orleans

New Orleans is perhaps most famous for its southern charm and cuisine, although recently this has been somewhat overshadowed by the city's recent devastation and flooding following Hurricane Katrina at the end of August 2005.
Much of New Orleans has since been rebuilt and the city's in once more regaining its tourist appeal.

- Aquarium of the Americas, located in the Uptown area of New Orleans and offering an enormous collection of marine and freshwater creatures, in all shapes and sizes
- New Orleans Audubon Zoo, regularly ranked as one of the best zoological gardens in the whole of America, with a large number of animals, together with feeding demonstrations and popular animal shows
- French Market, a truly historical local market in New Orleans, standing alongside the Mississippi River and offering a host of local produce, with origins at the beginning of the 18th century
- Jackson Square, a particularly lively part of New Orleans and the perfect place to start your exploration of the city, dating back to 1718 and known for its street entertainment
- Bourbon Street, a vibrant area lined with wine bars, jazz venues and many fashionable places to eat
- Garden District Houses, a beautiful area of New Orleans, where you will find many magnificent mansions and historic homes
- Old Ursuline Convent, famous for being the state's most historic building, completed in 1734 and an important part of the New Orleans history and heritage
- Old US Mint, dating back to 1838 and now home to the Newcomb College of Art, together with a notable jazz museum and seasonal events
